Originally owned by Dr. J.A. McGowan, the home holds a unique place in Marietta’s past. At one time, Tremont Hospital stood next door, while Dr. McGowan’s office was located just a few houses away—creating a distinctive corner where his home and professional life were closely connected.

Since moving in, Greg and Jennifer have made extensive improvements while honoring the home’s original character. Their updates include a remodeled kitchen featuring granite countertops, replaced hardwood flooring, fresh paint throughout, a new stamped concrete driveway, and a beautifully designed stamped concrete patio.

Much of the renovation work was completed by the Buckleys themselves, showcasing their dedication and personal investment in the property. The stamped concrete craftsmanship, completed by Jerry Offenberger of Designcrete, has added exceptional curb appeal and outdoor living space.

When asked about their favorite part of the home, Greg and Jennifer quickly point to the large windows that fill the house with natural light, creating a bright and welcoming atmosphere throughout.

Blending historic significance, thoughtful renovations, and a deep appreciation for Marietta’s charm, 735 5th Street stands as a wonderful example of how a classic home can be lovingly preserved and enhanced for modern living.
